Hunter Gress for Lower Saucon Council

This one’s almost too easy.

I’ve known Hunter Gress (mostly through others) since he was a kid, and to nutgraf it: Hunter is a brilliant and brave young person who will bring a subtle intelligence, a “crazy good work ethic” (as a mutual friend of ours puts it), independence and pragmatism to Saucon Valley’s largest and most troubled municipality.

Hunter Gress doesn’t want to sell more real estate. He’s not a cult-of-personality devotee aiming to make people understand why they should vote a certain way in the next presidential election. He’s not someone who’s made his whole life a one-issue crusade. He’s not running for office because he needs to be validated by Saucon to feel good about himself. He sure as heck isn’t running to please a corporation located in Texas with the ridiculous idea that doing so is somehow a boon to local taxpayers.

If there’s a bone of self-interest in his candidacy for Lower Saucon Township Council, I haven’t seen it.

“He’s extremely nuanced and well thought-out across issues, and he refuses to place either party’s line above pressing issues closest to the community,” according to one young Sauconite who supports Hunter’s candidacy and who wished to remain anonymous.

Is there any local municipality in the Lehigh Valley more desperately in need of a fresh start and a more youthful and less cynical vision?

(And if I’ve offended every other candidate in speaking up for Hunter, well—sorry. I don’t know you, and you don’t know me, actually. Feel free to post a comment below about how wrong I am.)

Last time I checked, Hunter is a registered Democrat, but like me, his positions are complex and he’s not especially impressed by party fealty.

He’s the kind of younger, original political voice I’d love to hear more from. I don’t know about you, but I’ve heard a bit too much of the old voices. I’ve had my fill.

Pennsylvania needs someone like Hunter. I think he’s going places. But for now, Saucon needs him more—and we’ve got him. If you live in Lower Saucon, Hunter Gress should be an easy choice on Nov. 4.
