A disgusting post-election stunt

So I received this, the very morning after Tuesday’s change-mandate election. Nice timing!

If I were a newly elected school board member, effectively being locked out of the chance to weigh in on the most important and long-lasting decision a school board makes, by a matter of two weeks, I’d be a bit disappointed in my future fellow directors, not to mention the outgoing ones.

The two new school board members will start their terms in the first week of December.

It’s simply disgusting and cynical and juvenile to shut the new board members out of this important decision, particularly when two of the three co-sponsors of the agenda item—based on the information I have—won’t be on the board come December!

It’s not nice, and it’s poor governance. It’s another self-inflicted attack on our school district, and it’s surely not what voters want. Any chance to repair relationships goes out the door like so many dead leaves sucked up by the Hellertown leaf-collection vacuum.

Stupid. Self-sabotaging. Arrogant. It’s … also … sadly too typical of Saucon school board.

I have to wonder if the supporters of such a move ever ask themselves a simple question: Whom exactly do I serve?
